Planning And Designing…

Victorian hallway tiles

Our customer approached us looking to install a Victorian floor in their hallway. They had used one of our great suppliers, Orginal Style, making sure that they had fully visualised what their dream floor could look like with their expert mapping tool. This tool is perfect in helping all of our customers get to grips with the best size, style and design for each and every room in your home.

Already considering the size that was needed to fit perfectly after using the tool, they had drawn out the relevant dimensions and looked into what design and style they wanted in their home. Our customer decided to opt for the lovely Falkirk design with the Kingsley border and edging tile. Using the tool, this showed the customer what their hallway would look like. You can see their visualiser results here

The Falkirk Design…

If you’re looking for some lovely victorian floor tiles in the UK, the Falkirk design is the perfect one for you. It uses a simple geometric pattern that is laid diagonally, in a lattice pattern. The edging was created with some beautiful tiles in Dover White and outer edging created by Kingsley in Black and Dover White.

The original pattern of the Falkirk design is White, Red and Holkham Dune but we replaced the White with Dover White to match the border and edging tile, and give it that luxurious look.

Installation…

Once the final design was confirmed, we arranged for our specialist tiler, Kevin Shepherd,  to visit our customer’s house to confirm the measurements and decide on what surface preparations were needed. Due to it being a wooden floor it was primed, and then a flexible floor tile adhesive was applied to fix a decoupling membrane.

It was slurry coated and the victorian floor tiles in the hallway were laid using the flexible tile adhesive. We decided to use white flexible tile adhesive and yellow decoupling membrane. We created this look closely to the photographs of the finished floor on the computer-generated image and made sure that we hit our customer’s expectations, if not excelled them.
